As a continued effort in keeping Bumthang Clean, the Dzongkhag Administration in coordination with Gewog Administrations, Thromde, regional offices conducted a major one day mass cleaning on July 7, 2018. The cleaning campaign aimed to highlight the need to increase participation from the residents in keeping the Dzongkhag clean and maintaining it on periodic basis. The cleaning mainly focussed on national highways, feeder roads, by pass roads, Gewog centre roads, farm roads and public places such as Chamkhar town, viewpoints, rest points, picnic spots.

More than 450 residents participated in the cleaning. A total waste of 500 tonnes was collected from the cleaning today.
