The health service of Bumthang Dzongkhag are provided by Wangdicholing Hospital and five other Basic Health Unit, namely Chokortoe BHU II, Chhumey BHU II, Dhur BHU II, Tang BHU II, and Ura BHU with Primary Health Care approach focusing more on preventive, promotive, curative and with some rehabilitative services for differently able person. Beside allopathic services provided by six health center, the public also have the choice to avail traditional medicine services established at Wangdicholing Hopsital, Chhumey BHU II and Ura BHU II by 2 Traditional Physician and four sMenpa mostly treating the common disease like musculoskeletal disorder, sinusitis and other nervous system.
As of now there are 3 doctors administratively looked by Chief Medical Officer assisted by Assistant Adm. The Dzongkhag has 12 Out Reach Clinics (ORC) and 37 Village Health Workers in the community. As per analysis of the Annual Household Survey of 2017, the Dzongkhag has a population of 15,587 which 7852 are male and 7735 are female. The acute respiratory infection is the topmost disease followed by skin infection and peptic ulcer syndrome.
