Planning and Economic Development
The Planning and Economic Development Sectors of Bumthang Dzongkhag work together to guide and strengthen the district’s growth and development. The Planning Sector is responsible for preparing long-term development frameworks for the Five-Year Plans and programs, as well as planning, coordinating, supporting, and monitoring the implementation of both Five-Year and Annual Plans for central agencies and local governments. Complementing this, the Economic Development Sector focuses on promoting sustainable economic growth by supporting local businesses, attracting investments, and enhancing infrastructure to ensure balanced and inclusive development across the Dzongkhag.

Mission
Ensure that GNH is mainstreamed into the planning, policy making and implementation process.
Roles & responsibility:
- Provide and prepare long term development framework for the five year plans and programme
- Plan, co-ordinate, support and monitor the development and implementation of Five Year and Annual Plan of the central agency and the local government
- It plays a vital role in facilitating entrepreneurship, boosting tourism, and creating a conducive environment for business operations. Through strategic planning and collaboration with other sectors, it aims to strengthen the local economy and improve livelihoods within the Dzongkhag.
